A friend of mine has a suppressor for his AR15 and it does make a difference. Its by no means quiet. But as a bystander with out protection I don't have to plug my ears.

My father-in-law has a suppressor for his P22. You can comfortably shoot it without ear protection using subsonic rounds. I wouldn't mind having a suppressor but it costs a good bit of money by the time you get the stamp, gun, and suppressor.

I don't no squat about how stamps work. Is it a one time deal or do you have to buy one every year for each individual piece of equipment?

The tax is just for one time.

I've seen a couple guns fire suppressors almost silently (subsonic rounds), but at that point, you can still totally hear the action cycling which is louder than you'd expect. I'd get one, but as mentioned, the price keeps me at bay.

I tried using subsonics in my Ruger Mk2, but they didn't have enough oomph to cycle it properly.

I'd love to have one for my Sig rifle.
