New build question
As I build this new pc for my brother, the case has an external SATA connector on the front with cable that I can plug into one of the on board SATA ports on the mobo. Are there any issues with using this type of external port? The OS will be win7.
if its the connector I think it is you have to use a eSATA/USB to SATA Converter Adapter for2.5 inch drive, larger drives need additional power, in this case you can use an eSATA/USB to SATA Converter Adapter that has power and data, or a external sata enclosure thats powered with the esata cable

eSATA became a practically useless interface. Lots of promise but it never delivered. USB 3.0 essentially replaced it.
I have an eSATA connector on my tower and I have a couple of eSATA/USB external hard drives and I've never used it.
