I use the older version of this MCE keyboard w/integrated trackball on my living room MCE: http://www.motherboards.org/reviews/har ... 738_1.html

However most of these units only have an 8 foot range. I'm about 9 feet away and sometimes I lose the signal.

One workaround would be to use a long extension on the USB receiver and get it closer to the keyboard.

In my experience, BT has miserable range. About 4 - 6 feet.

Depending on how much you want to spend, I know of one good solution. At work we have a large training room with a projector and screen. The PC hooked to the projector is at the front of the room, and they usually control the projector from the back of the room, a good 30+ feet. We use a Gyration keyboard-mouse combo that are both good to about 100 feet, so say the specs. In my experience, the combo works fine all the way at the back of the room, and the mouse is awesome. It's a standard optical mouse, so it can be used as one, but the mouse also contains a gyro so you can control the cursor in mid air, almost like a Wii controller without the infrared.

We use an older model than what's available, but a quick search turned up these:

Gyration Go Air Mouse w/ Compact Keyboard: $106+
http://www.amazon.com/Air-Mouse-Compact ... B0009Y8A8G

Gyration Go Air Mouse w/ Full Sized Keyboard: $108+
http://www.amazon.com/Consumer-Cordless ... _e_title_1

Both of which, according to specs, are up to 30 feet, non line of sight. If you're looking for more, they sell a Gyration Go Pro Air Mouse + keyboard bundle which is good for up to 100 feet, like the one we use.

A little expensive, of course, but they might be just what you're looking for.

Hope this helps

In my experience with a Logitech set, the range is more about 20-30 feet. Oddly at one point, I had a malfunctioning microwave cause interference with it.
When all else fails, replace the user.
