1 Monitor, 2 sources

Post by pseizure2000 »

So I just got this nice 22 inch acer lcd monitor in my room, and i'd like to be able to connect it to my xbox 360 quickly and easily whenever i feel.

I've already bought an HDMI to DVI cable, however it's a pain having to swap out from my pc cable to 360 cable from the back monitor's DVI port. So I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a splitter, maybe one with a switch on it for easy control or something.

oh and anyone know what would happen with 2 sources into a splitter to 1 monitor? curious

thanks!

Do you have a VGA port on the monitor? You can connect the X-Box to it. They make VGA cables for the X-Box. Then use the monitor's buttons to switch between the two inputs.

If your video card has an HDMI output (or you can get a DVI to HDMI cable for it) they do make HDMI switch boxes:

yeah i already have a DVI to HDMI cable, and i think it does have a vga port, but im a little worried i'll be a disappointed if i opt for lower for the lower quality vga connection over the crisp look of dvi (or so ive been told).

I simpily cannot tell the differance between DIV and VGA and thats with a 24" lcd monitor. The vid card is a Radeon X850.
GeForce GTX 970
AMD FX 8350 8 core Processor
16 GIG
Seems plenty good for gaming! :)

I would recommend DVI for the computer and VGA for the Xbox.

The only time you will notice a difference is in the crispness of desktop fonts. Anyone who tells you they see any difference in a game is smoking crack.

I have to agree with FP. I use a DVI > VGA adapter for my 32" LCD TV and my main Gaming PC and it looks amzing ;)
