I gotta vent here..
Just got some things in from a newegg order.
1. Another 512 of corsiar xms to add to the 512 I had.
2. A 1 gig flash drive
3. A Liteon dvd burner
4. A Kouwell F7209 5.25" 9 in one multi funttion storage device
The new rem flu in perfect
The flash drive found itself right on.. sent 500 megs to it and back.
The burner seems to be just fine.
BUT! This "thingy" called a 9 in one has got to be the wost piece of **** EVER!
I only bought it for the card reader for its front access conveniece and I have a spare bay.
Looks nice but the thing is a SOB to get the simplest things from it.
So far It will take my new flash drive. It sees it works fine after hooking up the pin headers, Vcc,D+,D-Gnd straigt off the MB (NF-7)
But this meant pulling the pug off of the mb (that went to the rear usb's) and plugging in the "thing"
K So far I could have done that with four wires and a connector..
But I thought now that I have a usb connection Maybe perhapes "the thing" could read a compact flash card..
Heck no. It does nothing...
I really love what the manual says... and I am not misspelling. Some highlights...(and what I think)
1. Make sure where is an empty space of 5.35" bay case (5.35 ?? and make sure it's empty?)
4. Remove you computers cover by removing its mounting screws with a screwdriver...... (A screw driver.. I would have never thought of using one of those..)
5. connected USB cable/1394 Cable/Audio Cables/Sata Cable to front-panel drive. (And that's IT! That all she wrote! Ok I'll go ahead and do that then.. Thank God for this help line 5..!)
6. Inserted or slid this front panel drive to an empty 5.25" bay (Soo helpfull.. Is it empty now?)
7. Replace the computers cover, and ..... (Not so fast here.. I might have to kick this thing back to Tiwian)
Q and A is really good too! Out of the 2 Qand A's I thought this was the funniest:
Q2 I was connected this product and installed properly with my USB 2.0 host card, but why show me "removable disk" in my computer?
A2 Please install card reader properly (versus improper?!)
It gets worse after this in the software section.. It shows the screen you will see (in beautilful gray scale) and tells you to click "next to continue " Like four pages of what your going to see anyway when intalling it...Almost readable.. I'm surpised they actually used real metal staples to put this book together. Theres two of em. I might keep those and send the rest back.
This is confusing to me.. Dosen't matter if I'm installing or Uninstalling.. WTF does this mean?

Im surprise the thing hasn't crumbled upon itself spanning the 5.25 or rather 5.35 span. Not sure how wide it is reading the almighty pamplet.
This will be my first return to newegg EVER.. Gonna warn them too. A freindly heads up on what their selling .. Newegg is too good for this train wreck and shoundn't have it on there site IMHO..

Can anyone recommend a 5.25" bay card reader that really works? I only want CF for now (compact flash 1 & 2) and that's really all..
