small LCD monitor problem

Post by d_b »

I have a synmaster 930B with a small problem. Seems that a few cat hairs have gotten behind the outer screen. its annoying to see a 3 inch cathair in the middle of the screen.

Any way to get these hairs out with out destroying the monitor?

thanks

It should be impossible for anything to get behind the first layer. You sure it's not on the surface, or a scratch?

Not sure if behind the first layer or second or what But there is a hair or two behind the screen. Guess I need to quit blowing them off. I've pulled serveral that were stuck halfway inside the outer edge.

Ah, yes NEVER use canned air. What you're doing is forcing the hairs into a crack in the bezel.

An LCD can have 2 or 3 layers. Many of the newer ones have an acrylic shield to protect the LCD, then there's the first soft plastic layer which is usually a polarizer (you can remove the polarizer on some LCDs and wear properly polarized glasses to keep people from casually seeing anything on your laptop while in public - some companies use this as a security feature on laptops), then maybe a 3rd layer.

How easy it is to get into it will vary depending on the model. Ideally you should see if you can find a service manual on the manufacturer's website so you can take it apart safely.
