i get a series of beeps on bootup, all short, sometimes 3,4 , when i leave the pc for a day not activated sometimes 12 beeps or more. when i disattach my maxtor 80gb hd i get no beeps, anyway the pc boots normally and its speed is fine, and when i scan the hd in windows its ok.
i just ignore the beeps and live on.
i put the hd on the sec cable but same problem.
i dont think i'm putting the cable wrongly in the board because then it wont go in , likewise in the hd.
i checked online one website told me your hd is not ultradma compatible, but i dougbt that.
please help me out...

You need to look in the motherboard's manual (you can get it from the manufacturer's website) to find out what the beep code means.
Do you disconnct the power from the computer when you don't use it (like turn it off at a power strip)? If so that's not good. Modern computers need to have power all the time to keep the CMOS battery charged.
