New Sound Blaster Live Drivers....

Post by smb »

I was looking for SB live digital 5.1 drivers for about a month. I downloaded Dell's and Creatives, but could not get them to install without the original driver disk. So, I thought I would have to do with onboard sound. I stumbled upon KX Drivers from here. These drivers are excellent. they don't take up the huge amount of cpu cycles, memory or space. If you have a sb live card, I highly recommend these instead. Oh yea, they work great in games, and mp3's sound excellent ( subjective opinion insert).

In all seriousness, I would lose the SBLive card.

The onboard audio on any modern mobo made in the last 2 - 3 years will generally perform better, sound just as good, and won't have the IRQ issues the SBLive had.

I wouldn't use an SBLive card as a doorstop... one of the worst mistakes Creative ever made.

hehehe it's not that bad. Onboard audio is AC '97. My Phillips Acoustic Edge gave up the ghost.

I'll take AC'97 or CMedia over an SBLive any day.

i have an sb live and actually it it runs games a lot better then the onboard cmi 8330. i got stuttering sound on a couple games with that. it has no pci irq probs which seems to be the most common one.
