What a chore, and I'm still not done loading all my stuff. As always, I forget to copy some files. In this case, it was the favorites and application data folders.
So my rig is now:
Asus P4TE mobo
2.4 GHz cpu
1 gig of ram
217 gigs of HD space on 3 drives. My boot drive is a 10k 160mb/s SCSI that is only 17 gig in size.
Turtle Beach sound card
Plextor 12/4/32 SCSI burner
Plextor 32x SCSI reader
Lite On SOHW 832S DVD burner (dual layer)
My old CTX 17 inch monitor (1998)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
I decided on XP Pro with sp1. I had some doubts about sp2. My guess by next weekend, I should be back to almost normal with all my apps installed.
Since I bought some new hardware, I was surprised at the prices of hard drives. I picked up a Seagate 120 gig with the 5 year warranty for only $65 at Newegg, along with the DVD burner for only $65 as well.
I know the 2.4 GHz cpu is probably not as fast as some onthers on this board, but I went from a P3 1GHz to this setup.
Got my new system up and running

Yo bro das one spicey meataball! :chug
You'll really like having that much ram.
Can't believe that hard drive was only $65, and that dual layer burner too. :; I still remember buying a 6x cd burner for under 200 and that was a major dealio.
Are CTX monitors still being made? I don't recall seeing any recently. I had a 17" one for a year or so around 98 also. It was good.

I can relate.

I agree! I wish there was a SCSI DVD burner out there
