CPU temp question ...folding

Post by nitro237 »

I am running a Barton 2500 @ 3200 , at default voltage , on a Shuttle AN35N mobo . I installed mtherboard monitor and the cpu usually runs 93 - 95 degrees . When I am folding it runs 110 - 115 .

Is this OK ? What temp should I get concerned ?

I'd say you are fine that is about same temp my 2500@3200 runs at....well on normal days. Today is hot as can be here and the room with my computer in it is at 95F and the CPU temp with F@H going got up to 53C/127F and is still chugging along just fine. If it gets to 55C I will shut off F@H till room cools off.

That temp is about average for that cpu, folding and for this time of year. Mine can get up to 115 at times also, even using a sp97. I'm at 109 now. What cooling do you use? But still, as randy said it's all fine. :)

I know one who runs at around 130-140.

Randy, it's 95 in your room now? whooaaa It's about 80 in mine now. Cooler day and nights are not far off thankfully.

blade , I'm running that Thermaltake Volcano 12 that I got from you . I am at 110 now , so I guess that's not too bad .

BTW , I ran folding on my gf's sytem , a XP2400+ with stock cooling . Her temps went from about 110 not folding to 135 - 142 folding . I chickened out and took folding off of hers for now .

Her case has a fan on the side , you think it would help if I added one on the back of the case ?

Yep summers last stand here, and me with no A/C,. Weather man says it will be in mid 70s by the weekend though

nitro I would add that rear fan set it up to exhaust hot air

That volcano 12 is a very good heatsink/fan. One of the very best. In fact I think I had it ranked just behind the sp97 and the slk900/947's. Is your system in a warm room? Like I mentioned though, I stay around 80 room temp now, but in winter it'll drop below 70. Then my cpu temps will drop below or around 100. Room temp and system cooling effects cpu temp.

As Randy and Greg said, I'd always add fans where there are places for them. You need at least one in the bottom front sucking air in, and one in the rear sucking air out. It does make big diff. :)
