Recovery Program?

So I turn my computer on and then it says one of my NTFS partitions has errors and needs to be checked. 10 minutes later it says something about master boot label can't be repaired and now windows xp can't read from the partition and says it isn't formatted. It also does the "clicking" noise once in a while as well so I've disabled the drive. I guess the drive is screwed, the other partition is fine (for now), so before it gets any worse, so I'd like to be able to recover the data after I get a new drive.

Can anyone recommend a good recovery program or do you think I can save the drive?

i just had the same problem with a 120 gig western digital !
it was my main i lost everything but it was under warrienty -so im getting a rma just waiting for it to be returned ! (this was just last week i sent the doa drive back to western digital )

Have you tried making it your slave drive . I had one that wouldn't boot , but made it a slave and saved some docs from it . Good luck

actually I'm lucky it is my slave drive which is why it's weird that it happened like that, it's mostly storage of media so it's not critical stuff but I would like to recover it...

Well I got a new HD and used a program called EasyRecovery Pro and I was able to get back practically all my files, which made me a happy camper...

Are ya'll using the data life tools when the WD drives go bad?

I recently dragged several older WD drives out of the trash and ran datalife tools from WD on them. They were trash and wouldn't do anything to begin with, but afterwords they worked like new.
How long they'll last is anyones geuss but for now I have several free drives from 30gig to maybe 60gig.

Since they weren't my drives I did not want to save anything on them, I even went as far as wipping them several times, but the tools may have options for retrieving the data, and for sure worth a try if out of warauntee like these drives were. I think at least one drive had bad click click noises to begin with. I dragged them out of the trash at a tech shop, with permision of course.
