I Need a little webcam help

Post by d_b »

I have an logitech quickcam pro the when i use it, either with some sort of messenger service or with the logitech software it slows my system down to a crawl. The mouse moves extremely slow. For that reason I am not using it.

I also have a JVC mini DV that can be used as a webcam but the manual is lacking on how to set it up.

Now the question. What software do I need to get the JVC working. The software that came with the camera is of no use. Do I use the usb or firewire connections?

thanks

You don't need any drivers for a DV camera - just a firewire port and a firewire cable. It will be recognized as a video input device by any application that uses one.

Thanks, as usual the manual was very vague. Under a small "Using USB cable" section it says "Use this camcrder as a webcam". And thats it. I assumed the firewire was for transfering video to the comp.

Thanks FP!
