RMA'ing a Maxtor drive...curious about the diagnostic error code

Post by b-man1 »

anyone know of a resource that explains what the error codes mean from the powermax utility used to test the Maxtor drives prior to an RMA?

this is a 200GB drive that died...error code DE66A171

all i can find on the maxtor (or any) website is that a 6 or 8 character error code is a fatal error that it should be replaced...just curious what it actually means, if anything.

i'm doing an advanced replacement...i then plan on selling the replacement drive since this one isn't used for anything anyway. :)
