Most over priced PC hardware?

I paid $920 for a pentium pro 200 like 8 years ago with a $320 motherboard and sold the combo with 64mb ram 3 years later for $300. It was pretty stupid.

But I would say video card is the most overpriced hardware. I am using an ATI 8500 which I bought in 2 months ago. I will not pay $300 for a video card again for sure.

Vid cards are now the most expensive part of the top end computers but its mostly r&d costs and cutting edge technology and research you're paying for. The life of a video technology thats mainstream is less than a year.

Look at the cost of a low end ati card now that was high end a year ago.

Power supplies haven't changed much technology wise but amd put the emphasis on higher quality due to the needs of the early amd cpus. My old P3s still run on anything that I can plug in.


Memory is similar to vid cards in that its a hot topic now.

My rigs are falling behind on video and memory now but work fine for me even with newer games.

I have to say hard drives and cpus must be at less than cost.
