Fits a 92mm fan and all the airflow from the fan does go towards the heatsink, unlike the thermalright slk series. But is this a contender or another pretender?
Installs in an easy and unique way, and a fan installs with snap-in rivets. Looks almost like long screws screwed into that copper base. But if it is effective, who cares.
One should be here thursday. If miss hurricane allows it.

That is only a one time deal. At least on the Alpha 8045 once you have the stand offs mounted you can unscrew the heatsink and reinstall it without pulling the mobo.
Initial testing shows 1-2 degrees F higher than the SLK900-A with using a 92mm tornado on full speed on both, idle and load.
Running the tornado at a quiet 2600, the swiftech is about 2-5 degrees F higher than the slk900a.
Perhaps I didn't install it correctly or have it tight enough. But I did follow the included directions. I'll redo it all and try again later. Offhand, I much prefer the clip-on method that the slk900a has. The swiftech is suppose to 'snap in', but it isn't that easy. Fans attach using a pin, and they aren't easy to remove. That is if you wish to change fans. And I will be testing it with 3-4 different fans.
I played around installing the swiftech on a dead mobo. It never 'snapped in'. Removing it was rather dificult too. I always had to use a small flathead screwdriver to assist in removing one clip.
more later..
