Looking for File server

Well, my A+ teacher garenteed me a file server, a very nice one in fact a couple months ago, only to tell me today that he'd like to hold to it for next year. (He has like 5 of them, so I guess I'm a little bitter about it). In any case, I have 7 hard drives that I was planning to load into this thing, and now I have no where to put them, and I need to find a case/mobo.

What I'm looking for is a COMPACT file server, not any of those server towers that come up to your neck...something like this: this

I'd also need a mobo, processor, whatever else comes with one of these things. All I have are Hdd's, adn like I said, I"m sort of lost on what to do. I don't know where to find/buy this sort of stuff.

What I'd like is a mobo that could handle 8 hdds...and maybe dual processor (NOTHING FANCY, maybe dual Pentium Pros or something?).

All I want this for is to hold all my movies/music. I'm not looking for a speed demon here. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE/HELP...


........what do you think, would it be better to just say f*ck it, get a couple IDE controllers, throw 'em into a miniATX case, and have that act as a file server? I'd prefer to have the server, but I'm not willing to spend $500 dollars for a setup.

You won't be able to put 7 drives in a miniATX case Best thing ya can do now is just find a cheap ass case with the capacity to hold 7 drives. Quick search on newegg and I found these:

That sucks he bailed on that idea Those were ideal (though I still don't see how they would have held the number of drives you have) Another thing you can do is just try and squeeze 'em all into your new Lian Li. It'll hold 6 in the bottom cage, and there are three more 3.5 drive bays. Total of 9 (8 if you need a floppy) That should hold 'em all. ANd if you need more you can use some brackets and put 'em in the 5.25 bays. Though that would be one heavy (and hot) ass case.
