Memory...
What to get? I'm really not ready to get a new mobo, I'm quite happy with my K7S5A, it's already doing 1644mhz (11.5x143) w/PC133 ram. I bought a stick of PNY 2100 at Office Depot, so I could experiment with the OC possiblities, and was only able to get 147FSB to be stable with any settings, so I took that ram back. Is it worth going to PC2700 (I'm going to buy 2 sticks of 512mb) and I don't think this mobo supports PC3200. Or should I just stay where I am? Certainly I can get a better OC out of the 1800+ TBred.. And I'm guessing the only thing limiting me is the RAM. What I'm really trying to do is get things I can use now that will leave parts for the next computer I'm building. heh.. Anywho, what do you guys think? I'm maintaining temps at about 40* most of the time, but should I also looking into an SLK-800?? I'm using stock cooling now. TIA eGo

I jsut got some samsung 3500...its pretty good. Havent had it past 200mhz yet but it does that at max speed and it was TONS cheaper then corsair (which is better but not worth the price)

Ok..
Is there any truth to what Judg3 said? Not callin' ya a liar bud, but hate to buy stuff I can't use.. lol.. I've been doing a little looking at NewEgg, looks like i can get a 512mb stick of Geil PC2700 for $66 shipped. OR I can get a 512mb stick of Corsair PC2700 for $68 shipped. What should I get I've heard corsair is pretty much "Top Dawg" in the ram arena. And for the price, why not pay an extra $2 lol.. But do I need to get ram spreaders for it? And does anybody know if this board K7S5A can handle the ram I'm looking at? TIA eGo

Is it Corsair XMS? If so, it already has heat spreaders.
I think you'll be fine without them. If you reach the rated speed and above, you don't need em. If you barely reach teh rated speed, it may be worth a try. But, most, not all, PC2700 and higher ram chips come with heat spreaders (Corsair XMS does).
Good Luck.
