What's better, 400mhz PII or 533mhz Celeron?

Ok, today I came across a friends old PII 400mhz system. Whatever slot it is, it has 192mb of memory, and I was just able to get 98 on there, it jept giving my a runtime error R6003 - integer devide by 0. I guess a 98 boot disc had to be in the floppy drive.

Anyways, the 533mhz system works, but I have no case for it. This case that the 400mhz is in is in one of those sweet Gateway cases, HUGE, and I could have tons of fun modding it. Anyways, would the 400mhz PII be better? Also, could I get a slotket and maybe upgrade to a PIII, or, is it not worth it?

No overclocking because its an old Gateway computer, but, the other one is an emachine, so..

I'd rather have the PII than the Celery, except that the Celery is probably overclockable and the PII is not.

PII was a better processor. The cache makes a difference in games.

Yeah, I also thought the Celeron was overclockable, however, the motherboard I have is an emachine motherboard, and supports a max of a 533 mhz Celly, so, the mobo is at max right now. I think it only supports 256mb too. The PII is in a nicely equipped mobo, with 4-5 PCI's, and 1 2X AGP. The celly system has onboard everything, and only 2 PCI slots. I think I'll let my brother use the 533 celly, and I'll use the PII as my server.

But, is a slotket possible? Or, is it not even worth it?

The Celerie should perform better through more raw MHz power, even though it only has half the L2 cache compared to the PII. But this also depends on the underlying mobo/hardware setup, so it might be best to give each system a quick benchmarking to see which on performs better. The usage of a slotket depends on the PIII plus the mobos support of it.
