Card reader question

For tyhe longest time I have had a little problem with any card reader with Win XP. I ahve a Kodak multi rad reader and i keep getting the "safely remove hardware" icon in the system tray. This also happened with my old reader, a sandisk reader. Kodak and sandisks sites aren't much help. The readers read the cards fine but that little icon annoys me. Anyone know how to get rid of it?

It shows that on my server as well where i have my reader hooked up.. Think its just something USB related even though there should be some way to get rid of it.
