Netgear WE102

Ok networking guru's, I have this Netgear WE102 Ethernet to Wireless Bridge (I haven't the fogiest what the heck that means) in a trade but really need 802.11b connectivity ASAP as my kids have invaded my PC room and I have been pushed out the door. I have my rig in the bedroom but am very far from my cable modem / router setup and don't have time to run ethernet until after turkey day.

the WE102 is connected to my Netgear RT314 but am not sure if I can attain connectivity with my PC with this or is this some gay wireless appliance thingy that should be used as a bookend.

i might be mistaken, but what a wireless bridge does is, it plugs into the Network port of any device (xbox, computer, handheld) that has an RJ-45 plug, and then it can be part of a wireless network.

What you need is either a Wireless Access Point or a Wireless Router...

If you already have a router with more than one port on it then you just need an Access point. No point spending money on a Router/AP unless you would also like to replace your router.

You'll also need a Wireless 802.11 NIC for the 2nd computer. I recommend leaving the main computer connected directly to the router and then connect the access point to any spare port on the router.

Wireless stuff today is pretty much plug & play. Just follow the Quick Setup instructions.

- CAT5 PC (Main)

~AIR~

WAP - wireless NIC - 2nd PC
- wireless NIC - 3rd PC
- wireless NIC - lappy
- wireless NIC - PDA
