Any possible reasons GTA3 runs like ass?

Post by Frost »

I don't understand it. GTA3 runs about as choppy on this system as my old one... And my old one wasn't even that bad.

Current Specs:

XP running at 2.08ghz (174fsb)
512megs DDR
GF4 4200
80gig WD
SBLIVE
Asus A7v8x

I was using the new 40.78 dets, but went back to the 30.82s in hopes of fixing GTA3.

I coulda sworn that just the other day it was running very smooth, with FSAA on, Anistrophic filtering and everything, but now it won't stop skipping. Even with no fsaa, anistrophic filtering, and detail down, and draw distance down.

I don't understand it, I just defragged, and no improvement.

Running Windows 2000 btw. Any ideas anyone?

Try turning on the frame limiter, it'll help prevent the big changes in framerate that the game has that makes it seem like it's skipping...
