odd pause

everytime i install win2k on my labtop it pauses for about a half second every 5 seconds or so and its really annoying

i have been unable to track down what is causing this
and ive been looking for some while

i also notice win2k does this on other full desktop machines aswell and i cant find the commonality

is dma enabled?

did you try diskperf -n

not a hard drive issue this even occurs in the bios

i have found the problem its a power issue i suppose, when i eject the (bad) battery it works fine

I think there is a "Power Saving" option you can disable.I'm not sure where but I usually 3 finger salute
and kill it in the task mngr.
