MS Patch for Bugbear Virus?

Post by TruckStuff »

I have recently installed a security patch from Microsoft to supposedly fix the vulnerability exploited by the bugbear virus. However, now these machines cannot open any tif attachments. They all say something to the effect of "Attachment Deleted by OE for Security reasons". My hunch is that MS got a little too paranoid with this patch and blocks a lot more than it should.

I need to know:
1) Has anyone else experienced this problem (I have not replciated the problem on my XP/Outlook 2k2 machine)
2) Does anyone know which q number in MSKB applies to this patch. At this point, I would like to remove the patches from these machines, but I need to know which q# applies to this patch.

Thanks.
