Definitely a newb question -> hooking up additional fans

Well, building a computer for my parents, and I need to order a fan for the rear, exhaust-style. Nothing extravagant, but I was wondering, how do you hook it up? Do you just splice it into a molex connector? Do they come with molex connectors attached, or the tiny floppy-like connectors? I've been searching on the web, to no avail, so any help would be appreciated.

Go through some of the dealers we link to, most include a 3-4 pin adapter. Most fans now days do come with either a 3 or 4 pin connector.

Anyway, a fan does connect either to the motherboard via a 3 pin connector or to the power supply via a 4 pin connector. It's usually best to connect it to the power supply via a 4 pin, so I suggest getting any fans that at least includes a 4 pin adapter.

Example, this Antec fan comes only with a 4 pin adapter, and that's good.

This one has a 3 pin, but comes with a 3-4 pin adapter.

Unless you are good at cutting and splicing, you might want to consider getting one with the molex connector already attached. You can find fans HERE AT KDC You probably want a standard 80mm fan. You can get fancy ones with temperature controller, but they cost twice as much as a fan without it.
