stupid drivers

I decided I'd download the latest drivers since I just installed Win2k but when I installed them it couldn't find my live! drive and thus, I couldn't use it. So, I installed my old drivers from the CD and it worked fine but every once in a while when I would go to the creative mixer, I'd get a blue screen and Windows would automatically restart.

Hmm, which do I prefer? No live! drive (which means I can't play my guitar) or a restart every once in a while, hmm

Stupid creative.

Anyone wanna trade a guitar amp for my sb live?

Nate, I figured out your problem. It's called Creative Labs

I might have a line on a amp fer ya, give me a week and I'll see. I dont know what it is but I think it's around 50 watts. Not real sure tho....remind me next friday and I'll see if this dude wants to get rid of it.

Hmmm,
Just exactly how do you plug an electric guitar into a sound card?

I have a nice old guitar I got in the 70's never learned to play. Don't have an Amp now though.
Do you just get an adapter to go from the large plug to the mini plug and plug into line in or is there a bit more to it?

Seriously you plug it into your line in and play. My friend does the above but there are better programs than Sound Recorder.

Actually, line in may not have enough signal strength. You'll just have to try it.

You may need to use the mic input, but disable and gain boost if there is any on it.

Guitar outputs are closer to microphone signal level than line level.

Cool Edit is a good shareware sound recorder/editor. The demo works fine except they disable a few features, and the full version is around $45.

Sound Forge is MUCH better but VERY expensive.

I didn't use recorder too often unless I played somethin' kinda cool and I didn't want to forget it. I just plugged it into the Mic jack at the front of my Live! Drive (looks similar to <a href="http://alive.singnet.com.sg/features/sb ... 394-ld.jpg" target="_NEW">this</a>) I use creatives wave editor if I want to edit it at all, which usually only consists of cutting out dead space at the beginning/end and making it a little louder. I just liked using the EAX effects. I normally would set it on "grunge" because it sounded heavier and was fun to rock with.

But after seeing rush last night, it makes me want to quit playing hte guitar

Good god, there are so many good players out there. I need to take lessons when I get a job again.

Thanks a ton guys.
I don't know why, but I always had the idea that the amp was required to make the guitar work. Sort of a power out to it type of thing.

Since it works off the line in or mike in, I'll grab a cable and plugs and give it a try again.
Don't need to record for now, just need an amp so I can hear it when I pluck the strings and narl the cords

Like I said, I never learned to play it
