one other idea - where i live the power goes off and on a lot - like 3x this morning between 6-7 am, i assume there are also a lot of vagaries voltage - i was getting a lot ogf resets on the modem from this - i put my modem and switch on an uniterruptible power supply which seemed to help - haven't had a disconnect since -

*Update*
Earthlink never called me back on this problem. I have called them every night as sson as it went out. Sunday night it shut off at 10:01pm. On the phone I went, tech support said it would be priority 1 first thing Monday morning. He also said they would call me after 8am eastern time. The call never came. I got online and used the Earthlink Tech Support Chat box and complained again at 9:15am. I was told that someone would call me within two hours. At 2 hours and 50 minutes, I called them. Another ten minutes of complaining about the connecton and hearing "we will call you back", I told the guy that wasn't good enough. He finally put me through to a supervisor. Monday afternoon my dsl connection was put into "safemode" and it has stayed on since. Now I'll have to call and see what they plan to do. At least it stayed on last night for once. :p

putting you on safe mode would help stabilize your connection.. maybe you're quite far from your CO.... i'm at the very fringe of DSL support... i've been told that if i was even maybe a couple of lots away, i'd be too far from CO

what kind of speeds are you getting?

i've been on safe mode for the whole term of service and it's been reliable and i get 768down and 384+up

I am 7,700' from the CO and the line tested at 769 down/ 321 up. Tech support said safemode supports up to About 960 down and 384 up. Sure beats dialup. :)

Try the newsgroup 0.verizon.adsl if you can. I know you don't have their service, but the users in there are helpful. Also, the message boards on DSLreports are a good source.
