2 older laptops

Post by ©LINT »

I had a guy bring me 2 older laptops running on 3.11 OS. Is there anything i can do besides trashing these things or can i, in anyway convert them cheaper than buying a newer one?. I was in the commadore vic 20 Era, skipped the 3. Era and now into the 9x Era :) .... anyway, any help would be appreciated.... Clint

I would think you could load Win 95 on them. What are the specs of the lappies?

If they're at least 486 CPUs with at least 16Mb, then Win95 will run very nicely on them. Don't even bother with 98 and DO NOT upgrade Internet Explorer (it'll only slow it down).

I just got 2 486's lappies at work, and I loaded Win95, the original version, then upgraded to Win95a. Do not install Win95b or c, as the installation files are 3x larger than the original. I used a serial link and copied the installation files from another pc that had them on the hd, then ran the install. Most of the hd on these old lappies are really small. The 2 that I have are less than 200 megs, which is why you don't want Win95b at almost 100 megs of installation files.
