HELP with cd burner

okay recently a cd burner i have had since like 98 or 97 is giving me this error
could not calibrate laser. i have never had errors with drive i tried two different ide cables the same thing i will attemp burnig cd's at lower speed. Anyone know how to solve the error i am getting.

ERROR is
COULD NOT CALIBRATE LASER.

this cdrw can read cd's

got it fixed. what really sucks is that it suppose to burn at 12X but only way i can burn cd without and error is burning at 4x. My other phillips burner (aka piece of crap) burns only at 8x not 12x like it say's on box or on cd faceplate. This is screwed up. Maybe i should get me a 32X burner
