I agree with those who use VIA: the links Busby points to relate to performance issues, not errors. I only build a couple dozen systems a year now, so can't say this with real ... authority, but once the BIOS version and 4in1 drivers are updated, I have yet to track a problem/error to an ASUS board with a VIA chipset. Between our office, those I have built on the side and the ones donated to a charity we support we must have half a dozen different ASUS board models in use. With W98SE, W2K Pro, W2K Server, W2KAS, WXP and Debian. No problems.
I HAVE heard a lot about less expensive MB's and problems with the way they impliment the VIA chipset... just called my reseller: FIC is the name that I couldn't recall. They have a lot of problems with boards with VIA chipsets... but they also have other problems so... ?
I recommend ASUS. Am hoping to u/g my work system to a 2000+ w/DDR in a few weeks. Just have to figure out how to justify it
