Network problems....
I've got Winxp on my comp and Win2k on the womans comp... We've got connection as she's sharing my cable right now as we speak but i cna't get file sharing to work at all... I installed Netbeui but i still can't see her hard drives or the printer thats on her computer? Anyone have any idea's its starting to get a lil on the frustrating side... I should have just stuck with Win2k on mine...lol
first make sure you have file and printer sharing enabled on her pc ...
second, if you see and select her pc... do you see stuff like printer and junk?
if so you've already got it right..
just then do the following...
//(insert computername here)/c$ <- the c$ is the letter of the drive you wanna see...
d: -> d$ ... etc..
also make sure the name of your workgroup is the same
i'm kinda sleepy so i'm not sure if i used the right slashes btw... but if / doesn't work... use \

hey predator i know what you are talking about
one my win 98 laptop i could not share files or see hardrives of it on windows xp. hey predator this is what you do. go to network places go to create a small home network or network and it will set you off to do everything and in order to run the same setup on other computers running different operating system it will create network install disk. hope this helps
I got it to where i could see the fiels on my computer when on her comp but not the other way... Go into my network places i could see her computer but nothing else... Think i right clicked on the comp name and it asked for a login and pass... After i put that in i was good to go. I don't let windows do shit unless there is no way around it... I took the liberty of setting it up manually
