Anyone use the onboard sound on the KK266

Post by PreDatoR »

I got my motherboard today, the CPU has still yet to show up. Just wondering if anyone has used the onboard sound on the KK266. I thought about giving it a try before i put in my SB Live! Or is it a waste of time to mess with it?

Yup, I do...... :) It's more than pretty decent. Supports 4.1 ( What I have, Altec ADA80's) and EAX. Keep in mind tho, that if you're googly over the environmental sounds available w/ the Live! series, you won't get those with the C-media o/b sound. Aside from that, I find it very effective.

The onboard audio on the kk266 isn't too bad. I actucally liked it more than my live except for a couple of things. It needs a little more cpu juice, and that you will lose the enviromental audio stuff like vid said. If you want more of like a review you can basically look up a review for any Hercules Muse card. They use the same chipset. Oh and you'll want to load up the WDM drivers if you want multiple streams of audio in windows.
