newbie question...that i forgot the answer too :)

will a 3000+ athlon xp run at the correct speed with 2100 ram or will i need to get new ram. me thinking i do need new ram, but for the life of me i cant remeber, im sure ill delete this post in shame l8r. thx in advance guys.

its a 333 CPU so its gonna need 3200 speed ram. I will work wiht 2100 ram but your FSB is gonna have to be 200 (100) instead of 333 (166).

No, it will "NEED" PC2700

PC3200 is for 200FSB or 400mhz

But Pugsley has the right idea

Really? i thought 2700 was 266 (133)? and 333 (166) is 3200? and 4000 is 400 (200)?
Is my thinking wrong? If so i am going to have to relearn all this crap. And just when I thought i figured out how this new fangled DDR stuff worked!

Yah, PC2100=133, PC2700=166, PC3200=200

eGo has the right idea. I used to have the same problem figuring it out myself.

thx guys, i just needed confirmation that this was right nxt question im sure ive asked before will 3200 ram work in a board that supports upto 2700?

yes, but it will only run at pc2700 speeds
