I just installed a XP 2000+ (my 1900+ broke) along with an SLK-800 and now windows says my CPU is always at 100% usage. My case temp has gone from a steady 24-27 C to 33-37C and my CPU is at 51-53 C when im not doing anything. On a side note my core temp is 1.82 and its set to 1.75 in the BIOS. Anyone have any idea whats wrong/how to fix these problems?

Sound like you have an app in the backgroudn running all of the time. Do you do any distributed stuff like folding@home or seti?

I forgot I had installed CPU Idle for some reason. That seems to make windows think the CPU is running at 100% all the time. But getting rid of that doesnt seem to stop the heat issue. My case is running 10 C hotter than it did b4 i put in the 2000+ and my CPU is running hotter than my Vantec did on my 1900.

I think some of the CPU temp prob is that the thermal hasnt set in, but still. 51C idle with an SLK-800 doesnt sound right.

reseat the heatsink. I was having the same problem, and upon closer inspection, my heatsink was not seated correctly. even if you haven't moved it recently, it's worth a look.

Like smb says, be sure the slk800 is seated correctly. I also had the same problem initially.

See the pics on the bottom here ;)
