Anyone know of a good site, with pics and detailed instructions for unlocking the athlon XP?

d_b: I used the "AMD XP Unlocking Kit" from HighSpeedPC, and it worked great. Their instructions were easy to follow, and I did it right the first time. You have to be very careful of course, and as they say, you only need a small amount of that conductive grease to bridge the gaps after the gap filler material is in place. I'm sure you will like this kit! :D

what does unlocking a processor do?

Gives you more options to overclock and you don't have to just increase the fsb to do so. Unlocking it you can also change the multiplier.
