Has anybody here unlocked there xp 1700 yet and if so will it go all the way to 12.5 multiplier with 1.85 voltage setting? from what ive read 12.5 is max for the current palominos and a lot of people with xp 1800 have been getting 12.5 no problem with 1.85 voltage.I have the epox 8kha+ so to get any more voltage i will have to mod

You can always try to up the FSB and o/c your XP that way. I guess you could get around 130MHz only increasing FSB to 145MHz, good memory shouldn't have problems with that speed and AGP/PCI is still in acceptable limits.

What HSF do you have ? You'll need some serious cooling when you want to do the Vcore hack to get above 1.85V ... try first what you can get with 1.85V max.

I just started playing with o/c'ing my 1700+. I set the FSB to 140 on my Dragon + which clocks it at 1540Mhz, the same as an 1800+. Then ran the burn in test in Sandra. I looped the test and let it run for a few hours and all seems well . Have to unlock the L1 bridges and play with the FSB some more to really know just how far it will go. Oh by the way I am still at default voltage of 1.75

Does your system actually hoover as mine did when I used a similar fan? :D

Get a fan off either a volcano 2 or 5. So much quieter and still cools well. The v5 is just 6.99 at webuildpcs.com

It's beyond me why those lawnmower fans are even sold. Who can stand them anyway. For me they are not even considered but heatsink makers love them because they make their heatsinks look better. I bet they all wear earplugs.

i think they put them in the computer in a sound proof room and have the monitor oout in another room... lol Too bad they couldn't figure out that most don't like thos eloud fans and would find something that moves just as much air and a very low noise level.

Alot has to with how high you're able to set your cpu core voltage and your memory voltage as well. With all the KT266A mobos you're limited to 1.85v unless, like you say, you hard mod the board.

I have an XP1600 (still locked) running on an ABIT KR7A RAID. I have it running at 1610 MHz (XP1900 equiv) at 153 MHz system clock x10.5 (=306.75 MHz FSB). Core V at 1.76V. Runs at 37 deg C unloaded, 45 deg C loaded (Prime95 test). SO you have plenty of steam left in your 1700 ! Give it good cooling and the 2100 is easily in sight!

that's a sweet cpu u got there KBE...
you know it's not really running at 1900+... in fact w/ a fsb that high... it's should be equivalent to at least 2000+ if not 2050+

Well i got a XP333 with a 1700+ it ran for a while last night at 1.7 Gig 11x155.... Think my POs Enermax is havin' a fit though.... Runnin' at 1650 11x150 right now stable as hell and at 94F :) Those coolermaster heatpipes are sweet little HSF's.... And Blade those 7k fans on these coolermasters are nothing similar to the delta or that young lin on those Senfu's... . I can tolerate this 7k fan :D

Man, i had to replace the fan on my Global Win WBK38. That sucker sounded like a jet taking off. I just put together a XP333, XP1700 and prepared to install the OS when i said to myself, self you aint puting up with this noisy assed fan. Took the one off my volcano. went from 7k to 4.2k but the noise is now tolerable. Now if I could get the damn floppy to work in this system.
