for that, you would want SATA RAID0 for the best....

it doesn't need to be on RAID, but it works better

Tried 11x200 again at default voltage. Surfed ok and all seemed hunky dory. Ran 3dmark, got about 1/3 through and it kicked out with some video error. Tried 11.5x195, same thing. But have yet to increase voltage. Doggone it, guess I'll have to.

So back to 11.5x190. For now. hmm, maybe I'll try 10x200 next. Tried using 12.5x 190 and 195, it just reboots.

Blade, you should have NOTHING to worry about in the terms of HDD curruption. The PCI speed is locked at 33 MHz, it never changes. :D

Hmm, I'll probably end up getting the True 480, cause I'll need the power down the road anyway. :)

you guys care way to much about the psu you got, most of us normal people use stockers that hold very similar voltages regardless what the system is running at. psu geeks

Well, at 11x200 @ 1.7

Ran 3dmark, went ok. :)

The voltages just ain't right. Got this right afterwards:

Then seconds later the +5 dropped to 4.78. Then back to 4.87 seconds later.

Anyway:

When at other speeds like 11.5x190, it just showed the megahertz.

Will be adding another 512mb stick this week for dual channel. :)

Sean, you are getting a heck of a lot out of your 2100. It is a 2100, right? I'm struggling to get to your maximum.

Dopey,
those 10k's sound pretty sweet for speed, but I still want to stay with the larger drives for $1 a gig or less. It's the video files I would need the speed for I think (capturing and editing) and those are what take up all the space. I maxed out my 120gig already and had to delete mpgs several times. Those 36gigs wouldn't do me very long till full :)
3 mpg files and 3 video_ts folders for dvds and I'd be moving or deleting stuff.

Plus I don't like spending that much to buy more than one, I try to get everything at $100 or less. Course sometimes you just can't do it, like $177 for a DVD burner.

I'd pop alittle extra for the ASUS deluxe and the 333fsb CPU, like about $150 for each if I need to, but that's like tops. Hopefully they will drop a bit in the next few weeks (before I buy em) too.

Yep, that's right blade, a 2100+. I could "I think" get this to 2.5 GHz with 1.9v. :D

You can't get to 11.5x200? It is a Barton, right? That's probably why. Those create a bit more heat and require a bit more voltage, if I remember correctly.

I would have thought you'd get 11.5x200 though, since its SOO close... ;)

These Bartons seem to be bow wows, at least mine is, when it comes to FSB. I've tried everything to get this oinker to run at 200FSB and it's a no go. I've cut #2 L12 bridge on the cpu, switched the boot drive from IDE to SATA, enabled/disabled the on onboard sound, raised the voltages, lowered the voltages, redid the AS3 on the cpu and tried every multi x fsb you can imagine.

I checked the ram via memtest86 and it chugs along with no errors at FSB speeds up to 220. It ain't the ram. My PSU voltages aren't any worse or better than what I'm seeing in here either. What are you gonna do ??!! :( I'm a stickler for stability and unless I can do anything I want to do and run prime95 at the same time, it isn't stable in my book.

Bottom line is the sweet spot for this cpu is exactly 12x186 FSB ( 2233 MHz). At that combo this thing will run prime95, folding, and play GTA3 all at the same time! I was kind of hoping to run at or over 200 FSB but it ant gonna happen. Heat doesn't seem to be prob at all and when I add voltage it seems to become less stable. Go figure.

All told, a 400 Mhz OC isn't too bad especially when you throw in the extra L2 cache that you get. In that I took a year off from upgrading, I'm pretty happy with this new batch of stuff. :)

I will however be getting one of those 10K Raptors as soon as my credit union slush fund fills up a little more. Maybe the price will come down in the meantime. :D

I'm running a retail 2800+ Barton on an A7N8X Deluxe @ 3200+ (11*200) at default voltage. Using run-of-the-mill generic 512mb PC3200, too (got it on ebay for $46.00). No mods to the chip at all - just dropped it in, changed the mutiplier/FSB, and it's run fine now for over a month. Also, I couldn't tell the difference in sound quality between my Hercules Game theater and the onboard sound, so I opted to use the onboard sound.

I thought the o/b sound had far less "oomph" than the Herc. Lacked the clarity of the GTXP too. To each his own I guess. :)

How ya been Paul? Nice to hear from ya. :D

Guess you don't want to hear about the new Airbus plane I bought eh? j/k:laugh

I don't get a chance to turn the volume up on my system that often - the volume level is directly proportional to the volume of yelling I receive from the wife when it's too load  So I can't say how the onboard sound compares at volume.

Yeah, Airbus is smacking our ass right now It's hard to compete in the buy-one-get-one free playing field :(
