Hey this is like my 5th or 6th post here, but my friend wants to buy a good computer system but he only has a limited amount of cash. he has $400 but i am willing to throw in another $200 to help him. Anyways i am looking for a nice system with these specs or close to these specs.

Processor- 700mhz (can be a Athlon, Duron, or P3) no P2's or Celeron's. Needs to come with Cooling
Motherboard - Something decent like either a KT133, KT133A, I815E, Apollo Pro chipset
Video card - Anything that will do for playing Counterstrike or Dune .Preferrably a Geforce of any kind
Ram - Either 128 megs of Really good ram or 256megs of craptacular ram
Hard drive - Anything from 20 - 40 gigs, dont care about brand or Speed
DVD - Like a 5 - 8x will do
Sound Card - Anything better than a SB 128 PCI, like a fortissmo or SB live
Modem - Most anything will do
NIC - Dont care about brand but has to be a 10/100 BT nic
Floppy - Any kind of White color floppy

I dont need a case or CDRW cause i already have those.
I can toss in more cash but mostly i would like to stay in the 600-700 range.

If anyone has a Prebuilt system like a Micron, HP, Compaq, IBM, or Sony Computer that would be fine too but NO Packard Bell's!!!!!!!!!!!!! <-- They suck

HP is fine but Hewlett Packard sucks? Wow! I have to make a note of this.

128MB ram or i can give 256MB
5X DVD

Linksys Network card.
Floppy
will throw in 20 - 40Gig hard drive..

all these for $700 shiped (with UPS insured or i can go by USPS if you would like (priority, insured)) ..

you need to talk to red dawn or gcs for 700 smackers one of these guys could gt you into a decent well built machiene

A few months ago, I built a system for a friend that had a lot of similar components to what you're looking for. Here's a comparison:

CPU: You want a 700, She got an 800MHz Athlon
Motherboard: You want a KT133A, she had a KT133A
Video: You want Geforce level...well, she had a Xpert2000 (Rage128)
Ram: You want at least 128MB...she had 256MB Kingston PC133 CAS2
Hard Drive: You want 20GB, she had 10GB.
DVD: You want a 5x, she had a 5x
Sound card: You want SB Live....she had onboard, but it was pretty good
Modem: You want anything, she had a 56K Diamond SupraExpress PCI
NIC: She had a 3Com 3C900B - 10/100bT
Floppy: No comparison necessary

The total price for her package was (drum roll please) - $450, and that included the case and keyboard and mouse. So, I am confident that if no one else will, I can easily top your preferred specs for your budget.
