Would a PC like this sell for $500?
The reason for this posting is so that I could get a good price range if I were to sell my PC instead of trading. Do you think it's worth more, less, or decent at $500?

maybe if it came with a monitor, though you could probably fool someone locally.
I like how you attempted to make the floppy drive seem like it was some impressive high-tech stuff

Decent enough rig, except for the video card. No one who's into gaming will be happy with that card.
FRANKLY if you're selling it on the forums it's not going to sell for that much. You'd be better off selling off the parts individually.
Locally, you certainly won't sell that rig for that much except MAYBE to a gamer and only if you stick a decent vid card in there.
Face it, computers just don't cost that much new anymore. Anyone you sell it to who's not a gamer or power user couldn't care less if you installed a 550 watt PSU and a Zalman copper HSF. All they're going to care about is that they can buy a decent computer with a monitor from Dell or Walmart for $500 NEW.
If you want to know the value of the system, to someone who knows what it's worth, look up the retail price of all your components online at a mailorder site like NewEgg. Add it all up, then divide by TWO. Add a little bit to that and you have a starting point.

Yeah, I have to agree - it IS a nice system and it has great value to you, but I can tell you that ALL of us that are roaming these forums are looking for great deals and that means that we're cheap bastards.
Locally you can get more for it if you sold it as one system, especially if it's built well - I've built and sold about 30 systems myself locally and it just got to the point that everyone wanted something for nothing (once the prices dropped on pc parts). I would think that you could get something out of the parts on the forums, plus let me tell you that shipping a system and getting it there in one piece is also a pain in the butt - don't underestimate the chore of packing and shipping it, to do it right it will take time and effort that you may not have thought about.
Try friends that need a pc and if it's not a good friend you may be able to get away with it...just kidding, you don't want to screw over a friend do you?

I would honestly consider doing the following if I were you:
1. strip the pc of the expensive 'fluff' stuff that you can sell on the forums for good money.
2. change it to a basic well-functioning pc and then you can drop the price into a more managable price - you don't want to sell all the goodies and not get a lot out of them.
Basically it's like modifying a car and adding nice accessories to it, you're just not going to get the money out of those accessories and you're better off just taking those pieces off and selling the basic car.
Just trying to help; trust me, I know how people want everything for nothing even when they have no clue how much you put into it.

Cool, those Mac Mini's look cool. My son is heavy into Macs and if he could he would have one of each one. If you're into PhotoShop, Mac OSX runs that better than anything I've seen.
You got a great price for it - congrats!!!

haha thanks. Yeah I plan on getting the 1.25Ghz model and buying an external firewire 250GB hard drive to add on to it. I'll probably buy a 512 MB stick seperate and install it myself since Apple charges alot for RAM.

Yeah, just get quality PC2700 512mb and add that to it - it makes a MAJOR difference to the way the system runs. It should be easy to add, but that's the ONLY thing that's easy to add on MACs

Yes, incase I got a better offer from forums. There's nothing wrong with that.

Well, there might be if you were fishing to get a cash offer instead of setting a price. The rules of this forum state you MUST set a price for any item you sell.
Yes, incase I got a better offer from forums. There's nothing wrong with that.
It's the "better offer" part that may be a problem, unless you meant trade offer (which is what I thought you meant due to your first FT thread on this computer). Your 2nd thread (this one) seemed to just ask for advice on the price, so the members tried to help you out in earnest to help you out (which is a real strength of the members here). It does seem a little strange then that you were already running an auction while asking advice and a price for the system, I think you can see that it may not seem right then.
This forum has rules to avoid 'best offer' auctions and those are set for a reason. Running an auction at the same time is a little iffy too, but as long as you keep any commitment made on the forum I can see doing that - though that's not a good idea. The best thing is to try to sell it on the forum first and if it then doesn't get any bites just post on your thread that you're now going to Fleabay with it and stop selling it on the forum.
All I would say at this point is what's done is done, for the future just try to come up with questions first and post it here with a price. Once you go to auction it off then post that you are doing that on whatever FT or FS thread you posted here. All of us are willing members to help people here, as long as everything is handled in good faith, you know?
Please also add a post to your FT thread for a Mac Mini that you've sold it, that way someone doesn't think it is still there and waste their time on contemplating to make a deal or not. You can also edit and change your topic to say sold and then everyone will know.
Good luck with the Mac Mini!!!

.... if you are going to put hardware up for auction (ebay) and post it
at a forum at the same time....
the only fair way to handle it is have your auction listed as Buy it Now
with a set price.
otherwise you are playing both ends against the middle.
Pops.
