yep... you heard me. heh... considering it's dead, i can't really offer much... like $10 Only problem is shipping will probably be expensive.....

so, this is really geared more towards dc metro area folks... i'd need pics first.. and would like ot have one that has front inputs already


or alternatively, i'll paypal you $1 if you can tell me of a source to find one... payment will be given when i obtain the receiver

sorta.. i'm actually going to go for a full sized... more choices to pick from.. i just won't use the last few slots (so i can place something over it if i need to).

but yeah.. goal is to blend into a stereo system. i wish i could program the buttons for the PC.. but i'm not quite that skilled

Check out Goodwill, look for an older one, they work the best. Solid aluminum and steel, plenty of space, and dirt cheap. Don't put it into a broken one, use a live one!

have any pics? why would i use a live one tho? didn't you have to gut it out to make room for everything? only benefit to having it work is to have the colors and displays work which is aplus... heh.

goodwill.. thanks for the tip... didn't even think of those places. only thing is, i'm afraid i'll only find old old receivers, like wood grain and stuff... i'm looking for something more now. heh.

Pics? Yes. Digital pics online? No. hehe Still haven't made the jump to a digital camera yet!

Now, as for did I have to gut it - not really. THe receiver was an Onkyo circa 19730 or so (something like 5$ at goodwill). A majority of those older receivers are just the amp. I used a little MINI-ITX board for it, and initially it wouldn't fit "as is". I had an older external amp for a home stereo, so I just tore out the amp guts from inside the receiver and setup some hacking magic to send the output signal to the external amp - this left me with insane amounts of room and she fit in there quite nicely.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad I don't have any pics online, it was a proof of concept thing for me, and wasn't quite pretty heheh. But ti DID work.

You want a newer looking receiver eh? Something mid-80's would probably work for ya. I had an old SoundDesign "StudioDesign" receiver and she looked quite modern compared to my current AIWA setup.

Oh, that's another place to check out - pawn shops. You'll find a lot of new, but not exactly "high quality" receivers. I had an AIWA Surround Sound receiver I bought for like 150$ in 2000 - it looked real nice and all, just wasn't the best quality. I bought a new one and sold the old one to a pawn shop, they gave me 50$ - so you can probably pick up something decent for 50$ or so.

I run to the pawn shop every week or so, if I happen along a modern looking receiver I'll grab it for ya and you can pay me back. There's about 5-6 goodwill type stores within 10 mins of me, so we might get lucky.

heh, thanks for the offer. i checked out the goodwill and value village shops.. nothing worth anything at all... I guess i underestimated how much "as is" receivers would sell for... I'll try the pawn shops.. but it will probably cost more than I want to pay....
