WTB- Playstation2 cooling fan

Post by Absolut Talent »

anyone got a broken ps2 that they wouldnt mind ripping open for spare parts?

I just need the cooling fan, but the cooling fan has to have the longer wires on it and it has to work.
There were 2 fans made for the systems. one has a very short wires, the other has longer ones (about 3-4 inches)

its the longer one I need.

If you got one....LMK via PM with your asking price

well i didnt break it pugs. Infact its not even for my system
my cousin was working on a co-worker's brother's ps2.....and hte fan dont work. And now my cousin doesnt know how to fix it to begin with, so hes basically dumping the problem on me.
I was just looking for a replacement fan, so it would be easy drop in and plug in and be done with it. But if I cant find a replacement ps2 fan, then I was gonna try a little makeshift mod. I think its a 60x10......but i gotta rip mine open just to make sure

So i was checking for an offical fan first. If i cant find one, then i was just gonna make a fan fit

well i am looking at the fan right now (pulled from my working ps2)
it looks to be a 60mm fan....but its more than 10mm deep. Looks almost like a 15 or 20

but the caseing is different, along with the wires. They are too small.....almost like the fan sucks to begin with.
I dont think the ps2 would be putting out enough power through the special plug that would power a normal 60mm fan

well the fan is supposed to run whenever the system is on (not on standby)
so if we connect it....yeah it would be constantly on

so prolly get something like this

and just soldier it up the same way?
does it matter which wire was where? cause I could just look at the powersupply board on my system now, so I know where to soldier it on to.....but didnt know if it matters which wire was on which soldier point

it does matter as far as + and - are concerned. as long as you get that right it will be fine. and yes just solder it to the same spost as we did for the inverter.
