A short note about Cleanliness

Ever get a part from another only to receive it to see it's totally filthy? Yes it's used but why not clean it first. Kinda sux receiving something filthy and with caked on dirt doesn't it and makes you wonder a bit about the other.

I use a cheapo small soft paintbrush(about 1 1/2 inches wide) to help clean off caked dust and in the cracks too. Plus an air blaster. Cleans it all just fine. Not to mention how that will make the other feel knowing what you sent them was clean. Piece of mind for yourself too.

I use a toothbrush and canned air myself. I hate getting something coated with case cheese. It only takes a couple of minutes to clean something up.

I know I've got enough dirt around here without importing someone else's. ;) :d runk And I seriously doubt that anyone wants any of mine. :D

Yeah I keep a paint brush by each computer and take each box outside twice a year for a meeting with the shop vac on blower!!

Its surprising how much dust accumulates in the corners and cracks of cards and anywhere near a fan. Only takes a sec to make it look new and guaranteed thats the first thing a buyer notices when they open that package. :D

I actually don't have much of a dust problem, anymore. I'm a smoker and I got tired of the tar making my office look (and smell) like crap so I picked up a humongous air scrubber from Oreck (http://www.oreck.com/oreck/shp_olc_air_multirm.cfm). This bad boy is 500$ (But I love Oreck's payment plans :) ) My office is maybe 1800 sqft (12x12x12 or so) and this bad boy cleans 18,000!
sqft an hour. So if I keep my office door closed it scrubs all the air in the room every 6 minutes! Definately one of the best purchases I have ever made, as I have literally 0 dust in my office now. I recommend an air cleaner, especially if you have 2 or more PCs and your office is one of the most heavily used rooms in the house, like mine is.

"case cheez" ewwwwww :lol

I use an aircan on both my rigs once a month or so because currently I have to have them both on the floor.

maybe it's time for another "trading tips" thread - btw - anyone seen underclocked or heard of him?

I got a cpu 2 weeks ago that was so nasty the fins on the heatsink were completely stopped up with nastyness . I had to take the fan off just to try to clean the heatsink it .

And yes , the cpu was dead :|

And the seller was shocked it was DOA , even doubts it was DOA :mad

In a related story....

When arranging a deal with someone I normally mention that I'm a smoker, and the possibility exists that parts I sell might be tainted with cigarette smoke. Even though I'm careful about ventilation, a sensitive nose can detect nicotine in very slight concentrations.

So, even if you personally think it's clean, someone else out there might gag at the smell of it. Better safe than sorry. I've fielded complaints and broken deals over the cleanliness of shipped parts.
