Our company is going to get 100Mbps dedicated connection through COGENT( http://www.cogentco.com ) in downtown CHICAGO
This fiber connection is available only in 6 downtown building. We are looking for business or individual who also need this kind of connection and who would be willing to split our cost for office space rent and possibly for the connection fee. We only need 50Mbps at this moment.
Office space downtown Chicago $1000-2000/ month - depending on size
Cogent fee for 1 month of service $1000/month
There are no installation or setup fees

i have a question, how exactly do you say split the bandwidth? so like one office gets 50mbps and the other 50mbps? is there a way to do this? software or hardware?

I think software and hardware solutions are available but doing it through software is probably cheaper and more effictive.

could you do this on a home dsl connection with software? know of any software? i want the split the bandwidth between computers at home.

I am pretty sure you could pull that off with windows 2000 server

I heard the other day you can do that in linux and assign each ip a specific bandwidth or something, how I don't know, but I think its possible.

you can limit the bandwidth usage on a network connection in 2k server. Bandwidth throttling I think its called?? not sure.

So the company or people going in on this deal with you would have to take an office in that building too then?

our company would be on the lease but the people or company interested would have full access to premises.

anybody interested in my offer. This kind of bandwidth is really good for anything. 100Mbps is incredible deal for $1000 a moth compared to T3 which is only 45mbps and costs about $10.000 a month.

You could do Webhosting, media streaming, etc.... with this kind of bandwidth anything will go
