Had some tough luck on this one, but I've got 2 dead Abit BX6-R2 motherboards and 2 possibly dead MSI 6905 Slotkets. Long story, but to shorten it a bit, used the wrong CPU setting in the BIOS of one and fried the CPU and/or Slotket and/or motherboard. Did a little testing with the other board and wound up with equal results. Not sure exactly what's up, but can't get a post from either board, not even with a brand new slotket and CPU. Fans come on, including the CPU fan, but no other activity. It may simply be a messed up BIOS chip and both may be recoverable, but I can't guarantee that either will ever work again. I have inspected both boards and both slotkets thoroughly with a magnifying glass and cannot see any burns or bad spots anywhere. I don't have the time or knowledge to even begin to work on these, so hopefully someone else will. I have the boxes the boards came in, however one has been eaten a bit by a dog. I also have only one manual and CD. I have the temp probes and a couple of IDE cables, but no floppy cables. Also, I won't be responsible for either the boards or slotkets burning up one of your CPUs, however I have tested a new CPU on all 4 pieces and it still works fine.
I'd like to trade all this wonderful stuff for a Sound Blaster Live Value card, if possible. If not, I would like to sell it for $40 shipped to the lower 48.
Sorry to go long with this, but it needed a little explaining and probably will require a little more to anyone who might be interested.
Please use e-mail, as I don't check PMs very often. Thanks, Rick

WTT-Dead stuff for a SB Live Value
Oh, I forgot, I'll throw the dead CPU in with the deal, too. It's a retail version C2 600 cCO stepped. I have the original box, but not the original heatsink/fan. I don't know if Intel would honor their 3year warranty on this thing or not, but you're welcome to try, since I don't feel like fooling with it.

Yeah, this ain't something for the faint of heart. Surely there are some folks, with the expertise to test and repair motherboards, out there. I sorta have the feeling that the slotkets may be OK, but I'd probably only feel comfortable testing them with an old and cheap Celeron, just in case. I think I've given the CPU to a friend of my son's for keychain material. Retested it and it's definitely dead, probably lucky I didn't fry another motherboard, because the heatsink got real hot, real fast. Shut it down as soon as I knew I didn't have a POST. Heck, I'm open to offers, for sure. There's got to be some parts here worth salvaging, I see folks looking for abit temp probes all the time and the CPU guide rails could be pulled off the boards. I've seen folks looking for those, too, after they accidentally broke theirs. The BIOS chips would probably be fine for hot flashes. As I said, the slotkets may be just fine, too and the MSIs are difficult to find any more. Anyways, these four items are just taking up space here, so offer something I can use in trade, or enough cash to make it worthwhile and they will belong to you.
Hey, another thing, I was honest about these things. I've seen some of our trolls that would have sold them as pristine and not even worried about the consequences. Like I said, any offers will be considered, because I hate to trash these if they have any chance of them being revived.

Thanks for the kind words Kevin!
Listen, could I ask a favor of you and the others here? I don't cruise the for sale boards as much as I used to, but in the past I've seen people asking for dead stuff for their technical schools. If you happen to see any posts like this any time soon, would you mind passing my e-mail address along to them? I think I'll put this stuff up in the closet, rather than just throwing it away. Maybe someone will find some use for it sometime and be willing to pay to have it packed and shipped. Anyways, thanks again and take care!
