is the seagate scsi tape drive a travan? I have the ide version of it and would be interested in it if can use my current tapes in it.

Reg, I couldn't find any more info online myself. Although it comes with a very good installation guide and user manual. It is the most basic "no frills" alarm option from GM. There is no remote, it arms automatically 30 seconds after the vehicle is shut off and doors are closed. If the doors are opened it waits 15 seconds for the ignition key and then sets off the alarm. The main benefit of it is the starter kill relay which is probably the single best anti-theft device you can put in a car. According to the manual, it is somewhat programmable and the outputs can be connected to parking lights, the horn, a separate alarm or however someone would want to set it up. Also, an alarm with remotes can be used by criminals to gain access to your car using a scanning device that is very inexpensive to build. To counter that, new alarms use complicated algorithms in their programming that vary the signals transmitted, and are therefore expensive. This is a pretty effective anti-theft device because of it's simplicity and straight forward operation. Again, not a full feature model but a good cheap way to add some active protection to your vehicle.
