WTTF: SDRAM based XP board and some SDRAM

Post by Zakar »

I have:

Asus A7S333, sis 745 Bare Board

256meg Micron PC2100, with heat spreader
256meg Cruical PC2100

looking for an SDRAM based board that will take AthlonXP's

Also looking for some SDRAM (only 256 megs pc133) and some cash.

I was hoping to find an Iwill kt133a board, nonraid or perhaps an Asus board. Anything without a fan on the northbridge is a plus. Please, no MSI boards.

email over PM's, heatware under Zakar

trades only for now, not looking to buy.

your best bet is to go DDR with a XP. Most people running XP's on a SDR board have problems with them not many support XP's and the ones who do have problems. Might want to try a ECS K7S5A it takes SDR or DDR but the board has problems running 133FSB with SDR ram works great with DDR though.

I was hoping to run Win98SE... the sis745 board doesn't run well with it. Perhaps a kt266a with the updated ide drivers?

I have built 3 systems using the Asus A7S333 mobo and they worked great . I have also used the MSI K7T-Turbo2 SDRAM board on a couple of systems and they ran good . Maybe someone will have what you need ;)

Its a great board, stable, fanless, and easy to use. Under win2k its great, under xp its great, but under win98/se, the ide performance isnt so great and sis only produces an AGP driver. Ah well :)

What kind of problems turned you off MSI boards? I have a Turbo2, my Fiance has a Turbo, & my friend has an old Pro2-A board & all 3 have been super reliable & good performers.
