my 2014 Toyota Camry SE 4 cyl. with only 58,000 miles on it . sure its 12 years old but talk about low millage we drive it daily but not far. anyway was informed it was time to replace the struts . so we had the shop quote us the price for all 4 using Monroe struts. we about fell over $900.00 for the fronts and $1100 for the rears. I was like WTH. we made some calls around and turn out that a good price /fair price. other shops were close but $200 to $300 more. for a total price to do the same job using the same brand shocks .
all the shop have said the same thing - about a year earlier the price would of been about 1/2 . :(

Yeah they put the cheapest ones when you buy the car new. If you plan to keep the car, get ones with a lifetime warranty. Now, how do you know they need to be replaced?

my ride seem to feel harder .when we push down on the car corners like front fender. there was very little movement as bounce ! the driver side rear quarter there was none . but we did have move ment on the passenger rear quarter when pushed down on . the struts on my car include the coil springs in a package /unit . will say when we looked at the shock part of the strut we don't see any leakage . i even looked with a flash light !
we took in to my normal repair shop and they confirmed what i thought. plus needing 2 stabilizer links replaced.

My wife's 2013 Honda CRV still have the original struts. The car has 110k on the clock. I drive it about once a week and haven't noticed any hard driving.

Struts and shocks normally don't cause tire wear. Ball joints and bushings and tierods will cause that. I guess if the top rubber bussing on the strut is worn out it can cause some minor alignment issue.
