VW execs may have been in on the lie for a year

You know, I was just thinking the other day that I haven't seen any VW commercials since this started. I would think they would have been running ads apologizing for the mistake and assuring their customers that they would fix the problems, but all I hear is silence.

In my area, they are running the "Sign and Drive" promotion but nothing regarding the scandal. I'm bet there's something in the franchise agreements that the owners can't sue VW because if I were a dealership owner, I'd be suing VW for lost revenue.

I suspected that the executives knew. The bad part is that they weren't proactive and that is really what hurt them. They could've issued a massive recall and started fixing cars a year ago. There still would be fines and a PR problem but I think it could've been mitigated. I think we'll eventually find out that they knew about the problem much longer. I've read that this may go back to 2009.
