So I bought an A118 dash camera last week . . .

WARNING: Don't Watch if your Squeamish.

It cracked the bumper just below the driver's side taillight and knocked the grill insert out of place. I haven't gotten the estimate yet but I don't think I'll be filing a claim. It didn't do a whole lot of damage on the surface but it could've broken something underneath.

Thanks. That's one of the smaller deer I've seen. I'm glad it didn't bounce up into the windshield.

I got the estimates today. It's $643 out of pocket or $1,075 if I turn it in. It didn't do a lot of damage but there is a lot of labor involved because they need to remove the bumper so they can repair the crack from the back.

check your deductible - bet you fine your better off just paying the $643 then turning it in .if your the normal any more it be less then your deductible and not be paying higher rates for the next couple of years from filing a claim .

I really like the camera so far. If you get the A118, turn off the shock sensor because it's too sensitive and you'll end up with a card full notice as it locks the files so they don't get overwritten. Also avoid Sandisk cards. In my research I found most of the problems were related to that particular brand. I bought a 32gb Transcend class 10. So far I I've had no issues. The video saves as .mov and looks better than what I uploaded. I transcoded it to H264 with Handbrake to shrink it so my upload wasn't so large. The night footage is also good. I'll post some later. I bought the camera through Spytech via Amazon. As long as you choose a U.S. vendor, you should be ok if you have any issues.

I would save a little now but pay more later unfortunately.
