Nice Benz VidmanII. I've worked at dealers that also sold MB for many years and their V8 or V12 luxury cars have always been on my "must have someday" list too. They're solid, comfortable, quiet and fast too (for a big car) and last many years, miles as well.
I could see a car like that for everyday driving and an older (more "affordable") Porsche 911 turbo carerra for a weekend fun car. Both are on my list of cars to own someday.

I'd much rather have a 96 Toyota Supra TT for a weekend driver... 911's are nice but too damn small! Oh BTW whats a cassette... LOL :D

Well, I'm happier than a pig in s*#! :) After 6 L-O-N-G months my 'stang's finally home again but with a new paint job and no body flaws (was stripped down to metal), whiter than ever too and need sunglasses to view it in daylight ;)
I'll have to get some new pics posted ASAP. All the black body side moldings are now white. The cars's now like new but the ol' pocketbook does feel lighter too. Still by far cheaper than a '03 Cobra which has similar specs. I'll now be very carefull where I park it, like near nowone and take up two places too.

nexus_7, where'd you find that? Those ARE rare these days.

Anyway, here's todays pics of how the 'stang looks now (still needs its new 351 High Performance emblems to be installed where it use to be painted on before.....this thursday and the rear hatch glass re-tinted as they scratched the new glass and had to replace it (again) a few days ago, their expense). Has all new glass now too, had a new windshield thrown in being that the original one had small stone pits from age and that was annoying if the sun was in front. They did the inside of the doors, door jams, etc (everything but the engine compartment because I didn't really feel like pulling it out for new paint but if I ever do someday, then I'll have that area re-painted too. It's like a new '85 except hardly original in any way.

linked instead of pics to save on bandwidth as we don't all have cable here.

The 442 came with a 455 in that year.

Almost forgot to mention to VidmanII earlier, $8K for a car like that MB's a damn good price IMHO. I STILL want a car like that too. I need more garage space as my measely 2 car garage is full.

got the grill right in yer face :)

1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III - 460 Motorcraft factory restored, 10,000 mi. power EVErYTHING, windows, antenna, seats. all leather interior. and everything besides what's under the hood is all original and like 87% new from its original condition. but i am gonna do a few tricks to it when i find the right people to do it.

Image

back about a year ago when i was pissed at it, i was gonna sell ole Big Blue, but not anymore. i got a site http://www.71mark3.com with pics i used on ebay and stuff, but they did not quite get to my reserve. i took a lot of it down, but the main pics are still there if anyone wants to check 'em out ( at least until the domain expires, which is i don't know offhand , next month or so.)

got a few new toys under the hood since those pics. otherwise, all body and interior and paint are original (for now.) no reason to mess with the paint and leather yet, it is just getting good :)

still a lot of work to do. but when i throw some of these 2002/2003 electronics in there, it will be like the Batmobile. kind of. it will likely be one of my 6-month projects, but i can still put the key in and it will take me there in style. i want it to be like the Batmobile, but also like what was that old game , Spy Hunter? i think, with the smoke screens and oil slicks and stuff. doubt it wil have missles and machine guns, but i got some plans to blow some funky stuff out the back when i want. probably colored smoke or something.

and still, i get people staring at me, riding in my blind spot and honking their horns, and all those old folks getting in my face at the gas station or whatever talking about how they used to have one of these.

still, after driving this thing for 3 years as my secondary vehicle, i don't know what all this fuss is about what is it? elDorado? cadillac? that ole Boss Hogg BS? i have driven an early 70's eldorado (71 or 72) and it ain't got a thing on the Mark III, except i wouldn't mind sometimes my car was convertible. it could be "cut up" to be a convertible, but i don't know about that. i wouldn't want a quack do a butcher job on it.

anyway, as a pimp ride, it is exceptional. i had like 8 people crammed in it almost comfortably. and most of them were hoes :) when i go somewhere, they are always like "i wanna ride in THAT" so now i am very selective about where i take it and who i am gonna be around, if you know what i mean...

it's cool and all, but it ain't got nothin' on greg's 71 442 that he posted above. that thing could do some sweet time on these TN country backroads :)

Yes... gregs car is a great car... seen it myself in person.

I too have a "pimpmobile" Its the Scavin Wagon. I bought this car to replace the Hillbilly Hotrod when i couldent get it to pass emissions. And i wasnt gonna put any more money into the Hotrod cause the trans was starting to go. So instead i bought the wagon for 500. Its pretty much the exact same car except its a wagon.

Any way. i did a little modding, Lights and changed the dash form the hotrod to the wagon so id still have my tach in the same spot. Then summer came around and some friends of mine said they have somthing for me if i want it and that id have to remove it myself. Now im thinkin a trans or engine, but nope. Just a plain old hood scoop. But I looked at it and thought how cool will this be!!! so i put it on along with the custom grill i made for the hotrod. the grill looked awsem when it was new. Then i got ahold of some stickers, and put them to good use. Lets see what was next... Oh yea, then came the place card holders i got from a recycling joint. they went well with the NUKE EM' when they are switched to radioactive! Oh yea, allmost forgot, one of the first things i did was move the high lift springs fomr the hotrod to the wagon to give it the huge rake.

The funny thing is some people think the car has nitrus because of this switch. All it is is the saftey for the lights on the roof. the other runs the fog lights on the bumper. And yes, driving it was a pain at first, untill you get used to the hood scoop blocking your view.
