So my GF has been driving a jalopy 99 Expedition XLT since I met her. Ive sunk countless thousands of dollars into it and Im just sick of it. It stinks....its ugly....gets horrible gas mileage....and leaks like exxon valdez from the oil pan. So I picked up an 07 Eddie Baeur EL this weekend for her for $12k. Its got 120k miles on it..which I didnt like but its super clean and runs like a champ.

I checked everything out at the dealership EXCEPT one thing...and low and behold..the one one thing I didnt check is the damn 6 disc changer in the dash. It wont eject/load discs. I read a ton of threads about how common it is so I decided to take the stereo out and remove the discs myself. After getting the stereo out of the dash, and removing the top lid...to my dismay...it was trashed. It appears that the previous owner decided to mangle the inside of it to get the stuck CD out and destroyed the platters that hold the discs. I purchased and extended warranty though Ford but it does not cover the stereo for some lame reason. Covers all kinds of electrical gadgets but not the stereo.

Does anyone on here have an OEM type stereo 6disc in dash from maybe a previous life or a stereo upgrade? Im tempted to put an aftermarket alpine in but I want all the menus and such to work and this thing has the factory dvd player and wireless headphones for rear passengers so Im leaning towards a factory replacement as well.

Have you inquired at any of your local junk yards?

If it were me, I think I'd just go after market and put something in there that has a USB or SDCard slot on it and load it up with MP3s.

MP3s and be done with CDs. I haven't had a CD in a car in years and my newest in dash unit, a JVC unit from Crutchfield ($100) doesn't even have a CD player.

Your best bet is going to be eBay on this.. But, I bet if you searched around you could find a way to integrate an AVIC of one series or another with the factory rear DVD and what not..

Good Luck!
